The Company is committed to the creation of a working environment free from discrimination, bullying and harassment that affirms the rights of those within the Company to be treated with respect and dignity. The Company recognises the negative impact on individuals where any of the above occurs and ultimately on the Company.
At the Company, discrimination, bullying and harassment means any conduct that is unwanted by or offensive to an individual. It may relate to gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, race, colour, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or disability.
The Company believes that these are unacceptable and this policy sets out to raise awareness of expected standards of behaviour and reassure you that any complaints of that nature will be taken seriously.
The Company expects you to behave in ways that are consistent with this policy and not indulge in behaviour that could be construed as discrimination, bullying or harassment.
It is a natural part of this policy that people are responsible for their own behaviour and actions. You should, at all times, consider whether your actions could be deemed inappropriate or offensive to others.
You must be aware that you have a duty not to use this policy in an erratic or malicious way. False allegations made under this policy will be dealt with as seriously as well founded ones and may result in disciplinary action that could include dismissal.
If you genuinely feel that you have been subjected to discrimination, bullying or harassment and raise the matter in accordance with these procedures you will not be subject to any detrimental treatment as a result of making the complaint. Retaliatory action by the person accused of the allegation against you if you are making a genuine complaint of discrimination, bullying or harassment is a disciplinary offence.
If you feel you are being subject to any type of discrimination, bullying or harassment, please talk to a Director for further help and advice. The Company does make a distinction between harassment, which is unwanted attention, and attention that is desired by an individual e.g. consensual behaviour.
